Panel: NFA - The Making of The Wardrobe Project

At 11:30AM-12:15PM, in Studio A

In 2016, the Nashville Fashion Alliance (NFA) produced The Wardrobe Project: A marketplace designed to showcase the Nashville’s fashion brands framed in large-scale installations by local visual artists. The panel will go behind the scenes to tell the story of how the designers came together, lessons learned, big picture goals, the strengths of forming an industry alliance, and where do artists go from here. // Julia Dyer, Director of Engagement, The Nashville Fashion Alliance: The NFA is an organized alliance of like minded professionals dedicated to building a sustainable and globally recognized fashion industry through advocacy, economic development, resources and education. // Elizabeth Williams and Kelly Diehl, Founders, New Hat Projects: New Hat Projects is a Nashville-based Art & Design Studio specializing in custom wallcoverings + multimedia installations. // Erin Murphy, Visual Artist: Painter, sculptor, and designer working in Nashville, TN. // Lindsay Walker, Founder, Walker Jewelry: Walker Jewelry is made by hand in Nashville, TN by Lindsay Walker, designer and metalsmith from Charleston SC. Making jewelry by using traditional silversmith techniques, Walker creates pieces that are meant to be worn through every season, and is focused on sustainable material sourcing and production. The designs are inspired by buildings, bridges, subcultures, and beauty found in the South. // Lindsey Stewart Sherrod, Founder, Lilyan James: Honoring timeless techniques, Lilyan James reflects a return to heritage traditions that honor both the craftsman and the environment. Each piece, individually cut and sewn in the United States, is made by master leatherworkers keen on applying a renewed sense of durability and character to modern handbag silhouettes. Each design, free from overstated logos and hardware, is grounded in the belief that a woman defines what she carries.
